Erik Horváth

Erik Horváth, DevOps Engineer, Nitra, Slovakia, remote, contract or B2B, full-time from 2027

I work in DevOps and full‑stack development. I’m moving into security and kernel-level systems.

At Marketeam I work on deployment, infrastructure and the backend. In my master’s thesis I read a running virtual machine’s memory from outside, with no collection agent in the guest.

What runs inside a virtual machine, read from its memory

An attacker inside a virtual machine can switch off or fool a tool running there, so I work from outside: from a running KVM guest’s memory I rebuild its processes, kernel modules and sockets and cross‑check kernel structures for rootkits.

It needs a guest kernel profile from the same boot, taken beforehand. The eBPF collector is an existing one that I adapted and fixed.

processes stable during the snapshot were recovered — none missing, none extra. One validation session, checked against ps in the guest (ps listed 83).

Symfony 3.4 → 6.4, staging and cutting Pretix memory use

I upgraded the company’s Symfony application by three major versions and built staging; Docker and CI/CD are in progress. Limiting Pretix’s concurrent worker processes cut its container memory from 6.7 GB to ~0.9 GB (measured at work).

Backend and a custom OAuth 2.0 server

I wrote 98.75% of the backend’s Python by git blame (excluding migrations), including an OAuth 2.0 server built without an OAuth server library; known gaps are listed with the code. Teammates built the frontend and SQL schema.

Working with me

For companies I take on deployment and infrastructure, backend and APIs, company websites, and security reviews of web applications (a review, not a penetration test).

Next step: an e-mail and a short call; in a technical meeting I walk you through selected code.
